Thruster Preventive Maintenance

Reduce wear and risk of leakage with ABCON MARINE-TRHUSTER+ in your system. It is an teflon based additive which has proven to decrease cost of maintenance on vessels.

Benefits

THRUSTER+ is a hydraulic oil and teflon based paste, which produces a teflon layer on all surfaces and thereby reduces risk of leakages. It is extremely protecting against wear on the bearings and the seals. When ABCON MARINE-THRUSTER+ is added into the existing oil in thrusters it has successfully demonstrated a massive reduction in wear thereby doubling overhaul intervals.

Blends Perfectly

When blended with the existing system oil the blend produces an excellent lubrication, which due to the teflon content, maintains its’ lubricating effect on rubber seal surfaces and on mating metal surfaces even during stand still. In case of longer stand still periods the teflon protects the seals/shafts from running warm at start-up thereby reducing the risk of damage. In the case that there is saltwater in in the hydraulic oil, THRUSTER+ will provide a substantial safety margin as teflon maintains its lubrication properties even in saltwater.

THUSTER+ can be blended with all kinds of mineral and synthetic based hydraulics oils and can be used together with all types of seal materials. Use on vessels has proven that when THRUSTER+ is used preventively it reduces the wear and reduce the risk of a later leakage.

Bio Based Version

ABCON also offer THRUSTER B+ which is based on bio degradable oil. It complies with the 2013 EPA VGP requirements as environmentally acceptable.

Application

THRUSTER+ blends perfectly with hydraulic and gear oil.

The product is easy to handle and can be added by own staff

Assembling

When dry-docking, it is advisable to use SEAL PROTECT+ as startup lubrication on all rubber seal rings. Past experience has shown us that when SEAL PROTECT+ is used preventively it reduces the risk of leakage.
